Travelling in Colombia a traveller should be concern is not cocaine or kidnapping, it´s Colombian crazy drivers. Especially in the South, roads are narrow and lots of turns, but they still drive very fast and taking every opportunities to over take. It´s very common to see a car over taking another just before a left turn, on a two lines two way road. And it´s not uncommon to see a third car passing in the middle of the line, in between two cars. The drivers seem doing it with a lot of fun, as if playing TV game. I saw a hint of smile on his face whenever he over took a car in a very close situation. I was really scared, as there´s no seat belt on all buses, I dare not to sleep and  was prepared to crash anytime.

In San Agustin, a very small town high in the mountain of Southern Colombia, supposed to be a place to see those ancient status scattered in the wilderness. But my greatest pleasure in San Agustin was not seeing those funny face status, it´s the way I visit them.

I rent a horse through my hostel, for just myself, because I wanted to save money, a guide would cost me double. So I paid about 10usd for a horse for half a day, and a map.

I don´t have much horse riding experience, only twice, in AUS and NZ, and I was with a guide, one horse follow the ass of another. And in San Agustine, that was my third time on a horse and the first time I ride it on my own. I´m pretty a dare devil, for the sake of saving money, I can do anything.

After half an hour on her back, I got a good control of her. And the feeling was fantastic, just me and the horse. I was communicating with her through touching, talking, padding, and I even gave her a couple of my biscuits. I go fast whenever I wanna go faster, I stop whenever I wanna stop. The best bit was to run down a slightly down road and to across the meadow. I felt like a cow boy, and the contact I had with the nature is nothing compare to the engine of a car or motorbike.

The road from San Agustin back to Popayan, was blocked by a road accident, maybe landslide, i don´t know. But what happened was supposed to be 6 hours travel time, turned into 15 hours! Hell!

But this thing happened quite often in Colombia, because of the phenomenon of Niña, they rain a lot this year, so landslide, road got swept away and flooding, especially in the North was very serious.

Rio Blanco and Mompox, in the middle of the flooded area, many travellers skipped those places, I still went there according to my plan. Because of the closer of many roads, many road transportation substituted by water transportation, and it cost almost a double to travel, but what I got was some extra ordinary photos, the positive attitude of the local people facing everyday´s inconvenience, and their friendly hospitality, and I hardly see any foreigner.
